In 2006, PROTOTYPES completed construction of a 32-unit affordable housing complex on the grounds of the PROTOTYPES’ campus in Pomona. The PROTOTYPES’ S. Mark Taper Foundation Family Living Center houses low-income, single-family residents within close proximity to the PROTOTYPES outpatient program (located adjacent to the residential program). Case management and counseling services are available to all families living within the complex.

 

The new housing development is a model for sustainable or “green” building principles in the field of affordable housing. By following sustainable building practices, the development is good for its residents and the environment as it offers an economic advantage of lower maintenance costs.
