Depending upon need and family composition, PROTOTYPES offers residential care for women and their children. Clients are invited to stay onsite at one of four residential treatment programs where they can obtain comprehensive treatment and participate in recovery, educational and life skills courses.

The PROTOTYPES’ Women’s Centers were established to provide a safe, nurturing environment for women and their children to receive a variety of services. Here women can begin to recover from substance abuse, domestic violence or other trauma, mental illness or health problems, such as HIV/AIDS. Because the recovery process is further strengthened through unbroken family bonds, women who are pregnant or have children are welcome to complete their treatment with their children at their side.

Services at the Women’s Centers may differ by location; however, courses at each center are focused on rehabilitation, education and the establishment of life skills. Courses geared toward rehabilitation include individual, group and family therapy, specialized women’s, survivors’, and HIV/AIDS counseling, 12-step meetings and relapse prevention. Medical services from psychiatric to medical and pediatrics are also available onsite.

Clients also have access to educational or vocational courses such as computer training, literacy training, food preparation, landscaping and much more to assist with job placement upon program completion. GED and community college courses are also offered onsite.

To ensure self-sufficiency beyond program completion, these rehabilitative and educational courses are coupled with life skills courses, such as nutrition, budgeting and parenting courses.

For children, in addition to our infant and childcare centers, PROTOTYPES partners with the local school district to staff a Head Start class onsite, which promotes school readiness. School age children are enrolled in local, offsite schooling.

We offer similar residential services for women who are victims of domestic violence and in need of safety and shelter. We have a confidential location for these specialized needs.

Residential Services are available at the following locations:
  • PROTOTYPES’ Women’s Center in Pomona
  • PROTOTYPES’ Women’s Center in Oxnard
  • S.T.A.R. House (Confidential Location)
  • Mother and Child Residential Homes at Tustin Family Campus
