Pomona
Women's Center
The PROTOTYPES Women's Center in Pomona is a comprehensive, residential
treatment facility for women who are seeking to recover from substance
abuse and for their children. It opened in 1988 and has become a national
model for the exceptional quality of the services provided and for
its high success rate among graduates. The Center integrates and coordinates
services for multiply vulnerable women, including those with mental
health issues, trauma (physical and/or sexual abuse) in their past
or present, and/or health problems such as HIV/AIDS. The program offers
priority admission to pregnant women.
The
Women's Center's residential treatment facility can house up to 110
women and 70 children at any given time. Having their children with
them at the Women's Center during their recovery improves the recovery
process and also allows clients to take advantage of the many resources
available at the Center to improve their parenting skills. Services
offered at the Women's Center include: Specialized Women's Groups;
parenting training and "Mommy and Me" classes; HIV/AIDS
counseling; individual and group therapy; survivors' groups; Seeking

substance abuse problems. Treatment plans are individualized for each
client, and treatment time can range from 3 months to more than a
year. Outpatient programs include: Day Treatment, Day Rehab, and Outpatient.

amount of support. Services are offered six days a week from 9am until

the residential or the Day Treatment or Day Rehab programs. A Parenting
Center on-site provides day care for clients' children while they
receive treatment. The Outpatient service also supports clients' housing
needs, with two Satellite Houses for women and their children participating
in the program.

care; individual therapy; family therapy; substance abuse, mental

Community
Prisoner Mother Program (CPMP)
Since 1997, PROTOTYPES has been the Southern California provider contracted
by the California Department of Corrections to operate a Community
Prisoner Mother Program (CPMP). The program provides housing, sustenance,
supervision and programming for up to 24 incarcerated mothers and
24 children at any one time. The goal of the CPMP is to provide a
safe, stable, and stimulating environment for inmate mothers and their
children. The program reunites mothers with their child(ren) and prevents
the separation of mothers from their infants and young children at
birth, while promoting bonding and strengthening of the family unit.
The women participate in a structured program that addresses substance
abuse issues, health, emotional stability, self-esteem, parenting,
education, as well as employment skills and community re-entry. Their
children receive services that promote physical and emotional well-being,
healthy personal adjustment, and success in learning. The CPMP ultimately
promotes inmate mothers' successful reintegration into society.

Re-Entry Court Program, designed to provide an array of services to
women facing a state prison commitment and to formerly incarcerated
women parolees. The Re-Entry Court Program represents a multi-agency

that creates individually tailored and culturally competent reintegration,
case management, and treatment plans designed to reduce recidivism
and promote social responsibility, self-reliance, and family unity.
The program is based on the drug court model, which combines intensive
